Borough Council - Carmela Vitale

I am a life-long resident of Madison and a local business woman. My husband Sal and I raised our family here. We love Madison. If you return me to the Council, I will work very hard for all residents to bring a common sense approach and consensus building to addressing our challenges. Everyone who lives in Madison should be heard. Working together, we will remain strong, vibrant, and desirable. I hope I can count on your vote Tuesday, November 8, 2011.

I have a long record of demonstrated leadership and commitment to Madison.  I have served two terms on the Madison Borough Council and am currently a member of the Madison Planning Board.  I am a trustee of the Madison Affordable Housing Authority and serve as chairperson of the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee.  I am also an active member of the Madison Rotary and the Thursday Morning Clubs.

I am concerned about our community.  In these difficult times, we face a number of critical challenges.  These include the need to do a better job managing our taxpayers’ money, the need to revitalize Madison’s heart, its business District, and we need to treat all of our residents, employees and volunteers with the respect and appreciation they deserve – for they are Madison.

We can’t spend money we don’t have without jeopardizing basic services – it’s as simple as that.

Revitalize Madison’s Business District

Smart zoning and effective municipal support services will enhance Madison as a town for business.

Share Services & Grants

I have a proven track record for obtaining grants for this town, and I’m going to get more. For starters, I will bring back Madison 2020, a green committee of enthusiastic volunteers, and empower them to go after funds to bring down our energy consumption.  That’s good for our pocketbooks and good for the environment.  And I am eager to work with neighboring towns to expand shared services to help ease our expenses.
