Astri Baillie for Madison Council
The following is a statement prepared by Astri Baillie on why she is seeking a third term for Madison Borough Council.
"I am a lifelong Madison resident, serving my second term on Council. My husband, John Kimball, and I chose to raise our
four children in Madison because of its strong school system, charming downtown, diversity and traditions.
As a member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment for fourteen years and as its chair for three years, I learned to listen, lead
and build consensus, traits that have helped me on the Council. I successfully organized a town referendum for an Open Space
Trust Fund and have helped to secure grants for Livesey Park and the Luke Miller house. We are in the process of acquiring 53
acres for passive and active recreation."
As liaison to the Planning Board, I am working to balance development while preserving Madison's small town assets. We must
update the Master Plan, the town's blueprint for land use.
I am committed to maintaining dependable services, a master plan for our infrastructure, and a prudent fiscal policy for
today and the future.
My one and only reason for running for re-election is that I believe Madison is a great place to live and am willing, able
and eager to contribute my time and efforts to help keep it that way.
